索尼、索尼旗下的索尼电脑娱乐（SCE）和IBM今天宣布推出专门为Cell这种下一代处理器研发的软件开发包SDK。

这三家公司在2005年8月联合发布了Cell处理器的细节。现在他们发布了Cell处理器研发SDK，这种SDK可以从IBM "developerWorks" forum下载，或者可以从Barcelona超级计算中心网站下载。

索尼、SCE和IBM这次发布的Cell SDK内容如下：

(1) "Linux for CBEA," a Linux patch to support the Cell's hardware capability

(2) "gcc and binutils for the Synergistic Processor Element (SPE)," which includes a GNU Compiler Collection (gcc) compiler for the "SPE"

(3) "IBM Full System Simulator for the Cell Broadband Engine Processor," a simulator able to start and run Cell OSs and application software

(4) "IBM Cell Broadband Engine Software Sample and Library," which offers source codes of sample programs and library software

(5) "IBM XL C Alpha Edition for the Cell Broadband Engine Processor," a binary that executes a prototype compiler

(6) "Cell Broadband Engine SPE Management Library," a library to use and manage the SPE in application software
