从Windows 7 RC开始，用户已经可以将IE8从系统中移除，而来自最新Build的截图显示，Windows 7的系统绝大多数内置功能都可以被屏蔽。

包括系统内置游戏、DVD Maker、MediaCenter、Windows搜索功能、.NET Framework，甚至从Win98时代就已经内置的WMP播放器都可以被删除。Windows 7已经逐渐成为一个完全可以定制组件的系统。
