前段时间，NVIDIA的显示驱动版本显得有些凌乱，比如桌面显卡驱动为185系和182系；Windows 7驱动为181系；笔记本驱动为179系，不仅版本系列众多，而且各个平台都有各自的驱动，不统一，用户也容易造成混淆。

而反观NVIDIA的老对手AMD，所有平台驱动都叫催化剂9.X，版本号一致，便于用户更新和记忆。估计NVIDIA方面也注意到了此问题，日前在推出新版驱动时，将WinXP、Vista、Windows 7、笔记本显卡驱动版本号都统一为185.81，这样一来就为NVIDIA用户带来便利。

185.81 Beta版驱动更新包括：

1、添加对CUDA 2.2 的支持，为GPU 计算应用带来增强的性能。

2、针对少于32内核GPU中的 NVIDIA Video Encoding数据库扩展了GPU硬件加速。使用该数据库的应用包括CyberLink PowerDirector 7、Nero Move it 1.5、Loilo SuperLoiloScope MARS和CyberLink MediaShow Espresso。

3、在不少3D应用中提升性能。下列成绩提升是使用Release 185 版本与Release 179版本驱动的成绩对比得出（结果会因用户搭载的GPU、系统配置和游戏设置的不同而不同）：

在《The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena》中性能提升达25%

在《孤岛危机：弹头》 中性能提升达22% （开启AA）

在《Fallout 3》中性能提升达11%（开启AA）

在《Far Cry 2》中性能提升达14%、在《镜之边缘》中性能提升达45% （开启AA）

4、包含对OpenGL 3.0的完全支持。

5、若笔记本搭载有至少256MB显存的GeForce GPU，则支持NVIDIA PhysX硬件加速技术。

6、支持GeForce Plus Power Pack 3。

7、支持单GPU及NVIDIA SLI技术在DirectX 9和OpenGL上的应用。
